QUESTION

Background
When we work with and educate/support children, we must be mindful of the dynamics
of each child’s family. It is important to keep in mind what the children may experience
in their daily lives. Because you understand the value of really knowing the children and
families in your care, you decide to seek professional development opportunities on the
subject. You enroll and attend a professional development session
called Understanding Family Trauma in Early Childhood: Strong Relationships are the
Key and learned some important information about trauma informed care. You would
like to share information you learned with your staff and faculty.
Directions
Step 1: Watch the following video:
 Exchange. (n.d.). Violence, abuse, and trauma [Video}. EdFlicks. (Time 10:17)
Step 2: Professional Email
Write a professional e-mail to your director asking permission to share your learnings
with staff and faculty. You need to write a persuasive email showing the benefits of
sharing this information at your next professional development session.
In the email, include the following information to help justify your request.
1. Explain four signs of trauma and/or abuse children might display (including signs that
might not be obvious). Provide a brief example of each sign and what you might
observe.
2. Provide at least two benefits trauma-informed care provides for all children.
3. Describe five benefits of having strong, positive relationships with families when it
comes to discussions about trauma.
4. Describe three developmentally appropriate strategies that you will include in your own
practice to support children experiencing trauma. Include details and examples.
Your assignment will include:
 Include APA citations to all sources used for this assignment. Use an in-text citation in
your email and list the full citation at the end of your email beneath your signature line.
Cited sources should be relevant, credible, and appropriate. No title page or separate
reference page is necessary for this assignment.
 All work should be formatted professionally and use correct spelling, grammar, and
punctuation.
Submission Requirement
Submit your completed assignment (table or table and writing) by following the
directions linked below. Please check the Course Calendar for specific due dates.
Save your assignment as a Microsoft Word document. (Mac users, please remember to
append the ".docx" extension to the filename.) The name of the file should be your first
initial and last name, followed by an underscore and the name of the assignment, and
an underscore and the date. An example is shown below:

ANSWER

I recently viewed the EdFlicks video "Violence, Abuse, and Trauma" and would want to
show it to our faculty and staff at the upcoming professional development meeting. Knowing this
information will help us understand how to support children who have been through trauma or
abuse.
Children may exhibit four indicators of trauma and abuse, some of which may not
immediately be obvious. Relationship issues, interactive changes like acting out or retreating,
and corporal indications like pains or indigestions are some (Hung, 2020). For instance, a
youngster exposed to violence may exhibit increased aggression or fear toward other kids or
adults, stop interacting with peers, or turn more frequently to adults for consolation and solace.
For all children, trauma-informed care offers several advantages. It ensures that staff
members are aware of the indicators of trauma so they can effectively intervene. Additionally, it
fosters a sense of safety and raises kids' chances of academic success and social-emotional well-
being (Deutsch et al., 2020).
When it comes to talking about trauma, having solid, supportive relationships with
families is crucial. It fosters trust, lessens stress, increases family participation in support and
therapy, and allows professionals to understand more about the family's history. Additionally, it
can offer parents and other adults who care for children a chance to learn more about their
experiences and how they have affected their development.
I am going to implement three developmentally suitable techniques to help kids who are
traumatized. I will establish structure and consistency by upholding constant standards and
practices. To help kids learn new abilities, I will also employ positive reinforcement techniques

like rewarding good conduct. Last but not least, I will serve as an example of positive behavior
and emotions and promote connections with peers and adults.
I hope you will give me the go-ahead to share this material with our staff and professors
because they will benefit tremendously. I appreciate your time and thought.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
