Annotated Bibliography on Domestic Violence

According to the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of
Homicides, the frequency of domestic violence in the United States has been increasing.
Many domestic abuse cases in the United States go unreported because the victims are
unaware of the legal definition of domestic violence in the country. The activities of the
perpetrators do not seem to the victims to be legal infractions that are recognized by the law,
and the victims do not make the connection. It is hoped that the research into this issue would
provide an accurate description of the activities that amount to and constitute domestic
violence in our societies. There are underlying causes in every behavioral offense that expose
the perpetrators to the crimes. In certain cases, the difficulties are caused by the socio-
economic circumstances of the community, religious views, government policies, drug
misuse, and the mental health of those who are committing the offenses. A thorough
investigation of the subject will illuminate the underlying issues that contribute to domestic
violence in the United States. By addressing the fundamental causes of the issue, the
understanding will assist in the development of better solutions to mitigate the problem.

There are various reasons why people choose to be victims of domestic abuse. There
has been an upsurge in the number of incidences of domestic violence in recent years. A
common occurrence of domestic violence is social or physical isolation, with the latter
consisting mostly of limited contact among family members or deprivation and abandonment
in unsavory locales. At first, the majority of occurrences of domestic violence were linked
with the feminine gender, with the majority of victims suffering abuse at the hands of those
they considered family members. However, as societies progress, incidences of domestic
violence are increasingly impacting not just the feminine gender but also the male gender.
According to Casey Leins (2015), between 2003 and 2012, domestic violence and

victimization accounted for about 20% of all violent delinquent behavior in the United States.
My personal experience with domestic violence in the neighborhood has been frightening and
even life-threatening. Because of the event's devastating nature, I was compelled to visualize
the suffering and agony that the victims must be experiencing. The experience has motivated
me to advocate for others who are less privileged and unable to report abuse to authorities on
their behalf.

The article examines the coordinated actions between domestic violence care
providers and child welfare organizations in the United States. The essay addresses the link
between the combined efforts of child protection agencies and domestic violence policy and
practice. The secondary reports and information from the children and domestic violence
studies were utilized in the publication, which resulted in a cross-sectional sample of children
welfare agencies from around the United States. The study used the green book evaluation,
which included a longitudinal case investigation of federal initiatives that provided support to
many communities to improve collaborative mechanisms to improve the effectiveness of the
children's welfare concerning domestic violence issues.

According to the article, a cross-sectional survey conducted for this article revealed
formal cooperation activities between domestic violence agencies and child welfare agencies
in almost three-quarters of the areas studied throughout the United States. According to the
findings of the longitudinal case studies, there have been changes in child welfare policy and

practices regarding the implementation of the cooperation between domestic violence
treatment providers and child welfare agencies. Improvements were seen in the screening and
evaluation of children by child welfare agencies, interdisciplinary techniques in case
planning, and the advocacy for adult domestic violence victims. According to the paper, the
magnitude of the observed changes varied from place to place. This variance was shown to be
strongly related to the planning method used by the different communities
