The scientific Method Approach

The Scientific method is a method that follows a cycle based on identifying a problem,
doing research on the problem, forming a hypothesis, experimenting with dependent and
independent variables, analyzing data, and finally drawing a conclusion. The scientific method
encourages doubt, and what is left after doubt is backed up with evidence. Therefore, I partially
agree with some aspects of the speaker’s argument as I cannot entirely agree with others.
Consequently, the scientific method is very careful and skeptical because scientists only
agree that knowledge is certain after it is proven. Scientists can cut out anything brought about
by new knowledge and create an opportunity to further knowledge, thus getting closer to factual
evidence. The scientific method is very strong because it subjects what people believe to testing,
giving a chance to scientists to use proven knowledge, facts, and evidence. As new evidence and
doubts arise, they are incorporated by the scientific method. The progressive nature of science is
based on the fact that the scientific method is not very certain of its results.
The speaker is right that the scientific method is linear and conclusive. The linearity of
the technique makes based on where to begin and where to end. In this case, from the problem to
the conclusion makes it seem conclusive (Cooke, 1:43-1:53). The conflict between facts and the

process is quite an issue because the process might lead to a fact subject to change(Cooke, 2:16-
2:30).
Finally, the scientific model is flexible, unlike other methods of study, because it leads to
error and doubts, which enhance furthering of knowledge to obtain facts. Consequently, the
model creates a cycle of conclusions that raise questions that drive back to the method hence
knowledge is made based on a background knowledge base. It is true children should be taught
to embrace scientific thinking. Therefore, no one is limited to being an expert in making science.
