Hamlet Play by William Shakespeare
Hamlet's inability to avenge his father's death is due to his failure to act and his tendency to
overthink the situation. The common assumption about Hamlet's indecisiveness is sad to have
contributed to his failure to avenge his father's death. From the beginning, Hamlet is not sure
whether to believe the ghost or not. He thinks it is a straightforward way the devils use to trick
him. For this reason, he fails to follow the suggestion the ghosts ask him to make towards
avenging the killers of his father.
Hamlet's personality keeps him from taking revenge for his father's death. As an individual,
Hamlet is weak and scared of falling into more trouble while taking revenge for his father's
death. Therefore, the assumption that his personality controlled him gives him difficulty in
making decisions to avenge his father's death. The assumption makes him overthink the
situation, which later makes it difficult to choose.
When the ghost informs Hamlet of his father's death through a revelation, he is appalled at it.
The ghost describes how it takes, but Hamlet is overpowered by assumptions about everything
the ghost reveals. The ghost tells Hamlet that a villain poured poison into his ear as he slept in
his garden, the same villain who wears Claudius's crown. From the revelation by the ghost,
Hamlet's fears are expressed as Claudia, his uncle, had issues with his father.

Hamlet's assumptions towards his uncle Claudia are confirmed after the ghost's revelation.
Hamlet cries 'o my prophetic soul' as he notices some attitude change between his uncle Claudia
but assumes this led to his father's death.
In conclusion, it is false as Hamlet's failure to avenge his father's death has nothing to do with his
assumptions but his own making. Hamlet does not believe that his father has been killed and thus
needs to avenge his death. Instead, Hamlet assumes his father's death by allowing nature to take
its course. Lack of self–discipline and procrastination make it hard for Hamlet to pursue justice
for his father's death.
