African America History and Culture

African American history and culture can be traced back to when enslaved Africans
were brought to the United States. Enslaved Africans were brought to the United States
during the transatlantic slave trade. The transatlantic slave trade was the forced migration of
Africans to the Americas. African slaves were forced to work in the plantations of the
Americans. Therefore, the history of African Americans has been shaped by the experience
of slavery, segregation, and discrimination.
African American history and culture refers to the history and culture of African
American people. It includes the history of the African diaspora in the Americas and the
history and culture of African Americans in the United States. Consequently, African
Americans were subjected to inhuman treatment and were denied their fundamental human
rights during their earlier days in America (Blyden, 2019). The emancipation of enslaved
Africans occurred after the American civil war, hence they began participating in American
society, forming their communities and institutions African.
Additionally, the study of Africa is beneficial because it helps individuals understand
the African diaspora context. Studying Africa is essential in providing information about
African Americans' background and creating a good background for people to understand the
depth of African culture. It is not compulsory to study Africa to understand African
Americans however, the studies must provide a bigger and better scope of understanding the
origin of African Americans.
Finally, African Americans have already created a society in America and are active
in politics and governance. Today they are not mistreated as happened during the slavery
days. There is an African American culture that has developed in society. Today the
government and the human rights act are friendly to African Americans, and therefore they
do not suffer from direct discrimination.
