The caring concepts identified in this nursing situation are authenticity, presence, and
empathic listening. The nurse demonstrates authenticity by being present with the patient and
listening to her without judgment. The patient demonstrates presence by being fully present with
the nurse and sharing her feelings and experiences. The nurse demonstrates empathic listening by
being open to the patient's experience and trying to understand it from her perspective. All of
these concepts are critical for either party in meeting their objectives as the nurse can administer
to the patient efficiently while the patient receives care in their preferred way.

The personal way of knowing informs my understanding of caring in this nursing
situation because it allows me to understand the nurse's motivation to help the patient. She
devotes herself to the task and is geared towards providing care to their very best to ensure that
her patient is fully satisfied by her efforts (Nurse Journal Staff, 2018). The empirical way of
knowing informs my understanding of caring in this nursing situation because it allows me to
understand the nurse's actions regarding the patient's symptoms and needs. 
The ethical way of knowing informs my understanding of caring in this nursing situation
because it allows me to consider the nurse's actions concerning the patient's autonomy and
dignity. The aesthetic way of knowing informs my understanding of caring in this nursing
situation because it allows me to appreciate the beauty of the nurse's action concerning the
patient's situation (Nurse Journal Staff, 2018). In other words, Hospice nursing parties is critical
to the patient, especially where both parties are ready to cooperate.
