The Foyer Housing Program

The Foyer Housing Program is a program within the Salvation Army that offers
affordable housing to young individuals. The program provides resources and support to young
people to help them transit to independence. Therefore, the program has twenty-five permanent
and ten transitional apartments.
In general, Foyer is an integrated living model that targets those at risk of homelessness
or already homeless, who need support to transit to adulthood, and who must be between the
ages of 16- 24. The support system also helps individuals transiting from foster care, the public
system, or any residential treatment centers. The program staff works together to offer clients
personal case plans, spiritual health, and mental and physical support enhanced with skills to live
independently ("Foyer Housing Program - Booth Brown House Youth Shelter and Housing
Program," 2022). The staff comprises an administrator (landlord), resident assistants, program
directors, case managers, and operations specialists. The team's professionalism in handling the
past and current tenants have only continued to make the program a success. They portray their
capability and competence in doing what they are licensed to do.
The management expects tenants to have the ability to maintain housing with minimum
supervision. Besides person should be willing to engage in learning skills, employment,
volunteering, and all productive activities. Tenants should also participate in attaining goals that
have been mutually established for personal growth or self-improvement. The management
advocates for the need to remain sober and willing to be involved in platforms to help achieve
the said goal.
Finally, the mission of the Foyer housing program is to holistically link vulnerable youths
with education, housing, employment, and their community. The program seeks to achieve this
goal by enhancing young people's living, learning and earning.
