Integrating tools and systems into an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system can ensure
patient care meets the state and federal requirements by effectively managing facility care,
outpatient care and IT track. Data entry through the EHR systems reduces possible errors due to
improved data entry automation, thus promoting safe patient information. However, despite the
EHR systems, human aspects may be unavoidable in some circumstances, especially when there
is a breakdown of the EHR systems when the information can be recorded on paper. It is
common today for healthcare PR actioners to commit errors and violate patients' privacy. The
federal and state governments have resorted to fighting through automation of the various
services offered to the patients. Automation ensures a reduced chance of the patient's data
leaking to unintended parties and reduces the chances of errors being committed by reducing the
number of parties handling the data. If EHR systems fail, proper mechanisms known by the team
should be in place to use SOP to prevent any errors from occurring when dealing with the
patients. Manual data entry may be risky in making errors with chances patient's data may lead to
unintended parties violating the patient's privacy.

Healthcare Information Technology (HIT), referring to the processing of information
through computer hardware and software in facilitating the automation of data flow, has gained
momentum in reducing human errors associated with the application of manual data entry. HIT
ranges from using computerized consultations, e-prescription, telemedicine, and keeping records
to evading medical error and promoting patient privacy. The system has been associated with
making the worker's tasks more manageable and without much strain, ensuring more patients are
served more efficiently and with reduced chances of error. Some of the technologies employed
include using smart pumps, which have reduced medication errors by 16%. The application of
HIT requires special measures put in place to ensure both the medical staff and patients can
easily use the system. As a result, there is a need to train both parties while providing materials
outlining the guidelines on the use of the system to ensure quick consultations. According to the
government requirements, HIT ought to facilitate electronic capturing of data, facilitate
electronic storage, sharing and retrieval at any moment in the case of need. Considering modern
life and the increasing human needs, a HIT system may play a significant role in promoting
health outcomes. Today, for instance, people are committed to different occupations. They may
have fixed timelines that may distract their clinic attendance, which may be solved through HIT
services such as telemedicine, where they can be attended to from any localities. Apart from
offering diverse accessibility, HIT ensures the accuracy of the services offered as the healthcare
officer may track the services offered and conduct patient follow up to ensure positive healthcare
outcomes. Generally, HIT ensures flexibility in service delivery, the ease of conducting patient
follow up and boosts the accuracy of the services offered to the patients.
