Client Engagement

Professional social workers must continue to study and practice their social work
experience, concepts, and talents to maintain their credentials as social workers. Personal and
professional development will be a part of this project throughout time. Client structures'
well-being depends on our well-being and vice versa. On the other hand, social workers must
be prepared to cope with ambiguity and their desire for continuous improvement. The fact
that many/most things do not fit neatly into a box; rather, people make it day to day, hour to
hour, not without pain, difficulty, or suffering, but with abilities and opportunities that may
be worked on and reinforced by our cooperation with these possibilities. This study will
examine the client-worker connection and evaluate the client assessment system by analyzing
interactions with clients and previous research.

Description Client

The client was Lily M., a 15-year-old African-American girl. She was sent to her
probation officer's outpatient drug treatment program for using marijuana. Besides, Lily M
was raised by her mother and father in the same house. Both of my parents worked for the
New York State Department of Corrections. Affluent Mahopac, New York, is home to Lily
M. and her parents. She mostly achieves As and Bs at the Bronx High School of Science,
where she now studies. Her first experience with marijuana came at 14 after being sexually
assaulted by her male relative. When Lily M first told her mother the tale, she believed her,
but her father didn't. When she was transported to the hospital, it was discovered that she had
been raped. Her male relative was later arrested and found guilty.

Many individuals have been impacted by rape in many ways. The majority of persons
who seek counseling have had traumatic experiences in their lives as children. It is not
uncommon for clients to report being victims of rape or another kind of sexual assault. Both
the social worker and the client may be confronted with the same problem or experience at
the same time. Such scenarios allow the social worker to more effectively treat the client
because they allow them to see the client's emotional and mental condition more clearly. The
same thing happened to me as it did to my client Lily M when I was 14 years old: I was raped
by a family member. Rape, in my opinion, may have a variety of effects on the victim if the
perpetrator is not brought to justice and the victim is left to their own devices. In most cases,
persons who have been afflicted by mental health disorders such as depression, stress, and
anxiety have suicidal thoughts.

Client Assessment

During the counseling phase of a client's program, social workers use the skill of
client system assessment. Social workers watch the effects of the micro, mezzo, and macro
phases on the client systems they deal with. A key Social Systems Theory concept is the
connectivity of individuals and their surroundings at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels
(Barsky, 2019). Evaluation of client frameworks is a continuing social work competence used
in intervention phases and generalist research. Students and practitioners in the field of social
work confront the challenge of merging an abstract definition, the "art" of social work as
such, with evidence-based practical skills, the "research" of social work as assessment
methodologies are utilized. According to Barsky (2019), a social worker conducting an
assessment should look for individual and institutional strengths. According to Barsky, the
social worker should make it a standard practice to seek strengths in individuals and
frameworks since individuals and frameworks are naturally interrelated and people face
challenges from other people or frameworks. There are significant indications that practice-
relevant scientific research will continue or accelerate in the foreseeable future, and this
remarkable development has occurred throughout the previous century (Barsky, 2019)

How can a social worker effectively "meet the client where they are" while reviewing
data from the client system? Milner (2020) advises social workers to use empathy throughout
the evaluation process. All of the senses should be used by social workers to understand what
the client is doing and what they are thinking and feeling. Milner says the social worker must
be truthful and consider the importance of the client's body language and speech (Milner,
2020). According to O'Sullivan ( 2020)
