Summary of COVID-19 in the USA

At the end of 2019, the world came to realize the new pandemic. Since then, reports and
updates on COVID-19 have continually been made known knows. The disease spread like
wildfire and continues to spread, causing deaths in many world regions. In the U.S, no state is
left without feeling the impact of such a pandemic. Many people have been hospitalized due to
this sickness that is still un understood by many. Here are some of the statistics on the disease
according to the new york times based in the United States of America.
The report eludes that the months with the highest infections are between March 2020
and April 2021. The disease affected a few, but with time the disease spread to affect many
people. The rate of spread is very high considering the statistics. It began in February, and within
a few weeks, it had spread and affected many people. The peak of infection was on 9 th January
2021, where the report indicates 208,308 cases in a single day. The statistics suggest that the rate
of infection is decreasing in April. In terms of people hospitalized and deaths, the statistics
indicate that the number decreases while the number of people tested continues to increase. At
the time of reporting, there were 712 deaths, and those hospitalized were around 43,641 people.
It is low compared with the rate of infection and death rates experienced when the disease
reaches its peak in the past. The primary cause of this may be the ongoing vaccinations. At the
reporting time, around 30% of people had received the double dosage while 40% had received a
single dose. It shows that most people are yet to receive vaccination or to complete vaccination
process.
There are some trends that the infection follows that I think are necessary. First, in terms
of the number of people hospitalized, Michigan state had the highest number of cases while
Maine had the lowest number. Second. The state with the highest infection percentages is Maine,

3
with a 38% compared to the number of people tested. All the conditions in the report had a
negative increase in infections suggesting that the infections continue to decrease. The county
with the highest vaccination rates is Huron, Mich with 34%, while the lowest county with fully
vaccinated people is Chattahoochee, where non have undergone vaccination.
There some critics according to the statistics. The statistics do not fully indicate the
relationship between vaccination and the rate of infection. At a glance, one may think that
vaccination is what is causing the trend of decreasing infections. However, there are areas where
despite complete vaccination, the trend is a rising one from the statistics. A good example is
paco, texas, Coos, and N.H, where the trend has a higher infection rate. At the same time, in the
county with no vaccination, the rate of infections has decreased massively. Apart from this, the
statistics indicate that the highest infection since covid began is around march, but if we went
back last year, the disease had a significant impact on the country.
From the analysis, we cannot conclude the impact of the COVID-19 vaccine on the
spread of the disease. Therefore, more research is needed in the vaccine field to realize if it has
an effect.
